At Nuna, our management team and on-site supervisors work closely with our clients to ensure everyone has a complete and thorough understanding of the operational objectives and terms and conditions of the planned work. Our management team provides a high level of consistent communication, monitors project progress daily and provides detailed project updates regularly. We work hard to make sure work stays on schedule, the budget is kept on track and all client objectives are met.

Joe Lambert

Chief Executive Officer

Joe Lambert was appointed Chief Executive Officer in 2018 following North American Construction Group’s (NACG) minority ownership purchase of Nuna Logistics. Joe also holds the positions of President & Chief Executive Officer at NACG, after having held progressively more senior roles since joining the company in 2008 as General Manager of Mining.

Prior to joining NACG, Joe’s career began in the gold industry where he spent 17 years in roles of increasing responsibility in engineering and operations, both open pit and underground. Joe’s more recent contracting and oil sands experience included positions as General Manager with Ledcor and Mine Development Manager of Oil Sands with Shell. Joe graduated from the South Dakota School of Mines and Technology with a Bachelor of Science in Mining Engineering in 1986.

Miles Safranovich, P.Eng.

President & Chief Operating Officer

Miles Safranovich joined Nuna in 2009 as Chief Operating Officer with over 25 years of experience in heavy civil, mining and industrial construction management for both private and public companies. He gained the position of President while retaining his Chief Operating Officer role in 2018.

Before joining Nuna, Miles spent five years at North American Construction Group, holding various executive positions and spending his last two years as Vice President, Operations. He started his engineering career at Voice Construction Ltd., an industrial earthworks and underground utility contractor. Through 18 years of progressively more challenging roles at Voice, Miles last held the position of Operations Manager. Miles is a Civil Engineer, graduating from the University of Alberta in 1992. Prior to that, he received his Bachelor of Sciences from the University of Alberta in 1986. Miles holds a Professional Engineer license in Alberta.

Ryan Hall, CPA, CA

Chief Financial Officer

Ryan Hall is a Chartered Professional Accountant with over 25 years of experience in financial and administrative management. As Nuna’s Chief Financial Officer, Ryan is responsible for all areas of financial accounting and tax planning as well as business advisory services.

Prior to joining Nuna in 2014, Ryan held several financial management roles with Sherritt International, including Corporate Finance Director, Development & Projects and Financial Controller for two of the company’s joint ventures. Previous to Sherritt, Ryan’s experience includes 15 years in the energy, manufacturing, investing and insurance industries with such roles as Chief Financial Officer, Controller, Accounting Manager and Senior Auditor. Ryan received a Bachelor of Commerce, First Class Standing, from the University of Alberta in 1995 and earned his professional accounting designation in 1998.

Len McHale

Vice President, Operations

Len McHale has been with Nuna since 2004, beginning as Site Project Manager, transitioning to Project Manager, Projects and finally his appointment to Vice President, Operations in 2008. In this role, Len is responsible for ensuring optimal operational performance across Nuna’s organization. Len has over 40 years of experience in heavy civil earthworks, industrial/commercial construction, open pit mining and oil and gas exploration. He is recognized for his acumen in infrastructure and construction project planning, execution and management of remote and difficult-terrain project locations in Canada’s Northern regions.

Len began his career as an equipment operator and advanced into various supervisory roles within the civil earthworks and roadbuilding sectors. Prior to joining Nuna, Len worked for Diavik Diamond Mines in the capacity of Assistant Construction Manager throughout the initial construction phase for four years, followed by two years in operations as General Superintendent, Mining.

Grant Pearson, P.Eng.

Vice President, Business Development

Grant Pearson has been with Nuna since 2001 and was appointed Vice President, Business Development in 2011. His previous roles included Strategic Initiatives Manager, Engineering Manager and Project Manager. As Vice President of Business Development, Grant is responsible for the development of new mining and construction business for the Nuna Group of Companies through developing both business and client relationships and liaising with various governing bodies and Indigenous communities.

Prior to joining Nuna, Grant gained hands-on mining and engineering experience at mine sites throughout British Columbia as a Mining Engineer and Surveyor. Grant graduated from the British Columbia Institute of Technology with a Diploma of Technology, Mining Engineering in 1992. He then attended the Montana School of Mines, earning his Bachelor of Science, Mining Engineering in 1998. Grant holds a Professional Engineer license in both British Columbia and Northwest Territories / Nunavut.
